Medieval Reflection

1. What did I feel successful doing during the process of the project? What am I proud of?

I feel successful about everything during the process of the project. I think I did fairly well with everything I did and I’m very proud of myself. I am most proud of my oral presentation because I think it got the kids attention and it made it interesting for them.

2. What new skills did I value learning?

Skills I valued learning is making a piece for elementary school. It was difficult but I managed to make an interesting piece of work for little kids and still be informational.

3. What was challenging during the process of completing the project? With what did I struggle?

Finding information was the most challenging thing because most of the sites didn’t have the things I needed so I struggled with that. I also struggled with my visual because I wasn’t quite sure what to do for my visual so I started doing different things but ended up with one. I also struggled with the game because I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do for my game.

4. How could I have improved my process so that I would have been more effective?

I could have improved my process so that I would have been more effective is be more organize and prepare for the medieval fair. I should have gone over my oral presentation more.

5. Did I effectively create an age-appropriate presentation and game for the elementary students? (please explain how you know it was appropriate or how you could have changed it to be more appropriate)

Yes, I think I did create an age-appropriate presentation and game for the elementary students but it wasn’t 100% to the audience. There were a few words that weren’t for the 1st graders but other than that it was appropriate. It was fun and it was interactive also so I got the little kids do some stuff.

Jeopardy Reflection

1. What did I feel successful doing during the process of the project? What am I proud of?

I felt really successful and relieved when I finished all my research because there were a lot of information I had to write down about my topic and I was really relieved once I researched all the information I had to. It was the hardest part because at the same time I was writing down information I was trying to write it in my own words which didn’t work out so well. I ended up with 4 full pages of information. Since I wrote down my information in order to write down the article, it was easy for me to make the outline and the article. I am proud of getting all that information, putting it in my own words later on, creating an outline of it, and making it all into an encyclopedia. I am proud of the work I have done because it was quite troublesome. I felt really relieved after I finished all my work.

2. What new skills did I value learning?

Skills I learned is how to make a master slide in a power point. I have never knew about it and I have never used it before. I also never knew you could link slide to slide in power point, It will come handy to me in the future. I also never knew you could make action buttons in power point. I now know more things about power point and I can use those skills in the future to make my presentations better.

3. What was challenging during the process of completing the project? With what did I struggle?

A challenging part during the process of completing the project was creating everything into my own words. It always has been a weakness for me, even though I try not to I always seem to copy a lot. In the end I plagiarized 0%. I also had a hard time in creating the jeopardy game at the start. The instructions were quiet confusing so I struggled with that for quite a while. It was my very first time using a master slide so I new nothing about it. I also never knew how to link stuff in a power point presentation. I struggled most in creating the jeopardy game presentation.

4. How could I have improved my process so that I would have been more effective?

Something I should have done is put the information into my own words while I was getting the information. If I did that, I would have finished my project earlier and be more effective. Another thing is when my group and I were having trouble with the power point, we should have asked for help instead of figure out how to fix it ourselves.

Thailand Plane Crash

Link to news article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070917/ap_on_re_as/thailand_plane_crash

What is the issue?

During Monday, September 17, 2007, a plane on the resort island
Phuket, Thailand, crashed, in a stormy weather. 91 people died, and 55 of them were foreign tourists. There were 123 passengers in the plane and 7 crewmembers. The plane was off course because of the bad wind and rain, and then it crashed into a low retaining wall, split in two, and was set on fire.

Who is affected and how?

·       The 91 people who have died because they have lost their lives.
·       The 91 people, who have died relatives and friends because they have lost a love one, or a friend, and they will be very sad.
·       The escaped passengers, because they might be afraid to go on a plane again.
·       Air traffic controllers, because they were supposed to guide the plane to a safe landing.

·       The authorities, because they are trying to figure out and investigate more into the plane crash, and if there was any other reason it crashed.

What would you do if you were directly involved?

If I was directly involved, I make a new rule, that if there is a big storm, stop all the planes until the storm stops, or else another plane might crash in the storm.
